Another cold night
So we thought the heating problem was fixed yesterday when the electrician put in a new, bigger main breaker outside. How wrong we were. That became apparant at 1:30am when our noses turned to ice pops. So, a couple of times last night Mark got up, drove to the guard station at the entrance to our complex, showed his paper drawing of a lightbulb with a / across it, brought a guard with a key to unlock the outside breaker access, and trip the power back on. Poor guy couldn't catch a break! By this morning the power would not trip on for more than 2 seconds. I became a very squeaky wheel at that point. I was very polite, but crystal clear about what needed to happen. I want heat NOW! The same electrician showed up and just spent 2 hours checking everything in my house. It seems a light switch was fried and causing all the problems. It doesn't seem like that should ground the whole system, as opposed to just tripping the individual circuit, however, this is China and I am not an engineer, only married to one! Now I am waiting for the water heater to finish so I can take a long awaited shower. Oh, today is supposed to bring another round of snowstorms - wish us luck and say a prayer!

Ok I expected a better report :-) So sorry you guys are having to deal with that especially since you can not communicate with them. Hope it was a warm and toasty shower and a warm home.
Hey when you get a chance will you zip those ice skating pics and email them over to me. Or just size them down. I can not wait to see them and how cute the kids look.
Oh and can you see blogger in English now? I am adduming so since you are posting ;-)
I'm so glad to see your blog! I've wondered how China is going, I can imagine its so much more to deal with than Canada. At least everyone speaks English, and there's little censorship. Oh, and we haven't had any heat issues, even though its cold outside. Although we have had the sewer back up in our bathroom, not actual sewer, just the smell. Undoubtedly something is frozen somewhere. If I run hot water down all the drains at the same time once a day it will keep the smell gone. Good luck with the electricity today!
OMG what a crazy / cold couple of days you have had! I hope it is all working now and you can warm up. I hope the girls get to see real snow. I would love to see some pics if you get out in it.
I was so happy to hear from y'all! I cannot always view what I have posted or anyone else's comments. bummer. e-mail me if I don't respond!
